What Motivates You?

Supplier_Diversity_Day.jpgMicro-Fresh joined MSDUK's second largest calendar event, Supplier Diversity Day, on Thursday 19th April.

Byron Dixon, Micro-Fresh MD, along with representatives from 120 companies to include BT, GlaxoSmithKline, Accenture and Exxon Mobil attended the event which provided dynamic, informative and interactive workshops, seminars and panel discussions.

Byron was one of three successful entrepreneurs invited to share best practice, business ideas, hints, tips and provide a valuable question and answer session for new and small business enterprises. Byron was delighted to share his passion and enthusiasm for business revealing the secret to being motivated is freedom not money.

When asked about the difficulties faced when expanding into China and India, Byron, explained that apart from the usual, 'when in Rome...' getting involved and acquainted with local culture and customs is crucial highlighting a key area, corporate social responsibility, to be at the top of the list. Micro-Fresh sponsor a local basketball team in China providing training wear and embody a positive impact on the surrounding areas in which its offices in China and India are based.

This year's Supplier Diversity Day was a great event enabling MSDUK members to network, learn from one another and share information, knowledge and expertise as well as providing the forum for one to one meetings and subsequent partnerships.

Wellbeing in the Workplace

Wellbeing_in_the_Workplace.jpgWork absence due to sickness costs UK companies around £12 billion each year; that equates to approximately £495 per employee every year!

Cold, flu and other viruses are spread by direct contact. For example a person who has flu might sneeze into their hands. They may then pick up the telephone, type on their keyboard or push through an office door. A virus can live for hours on a pen, telephone, book, telephone, keyboard or door.

Viruses require a living host to multiply whereas bacteria can reproduce independently at an alarming rate. Bacteria can thrive not only for hours but days and even weeks, silently passing from person to person. The workspace is reported to be one of the highest ranked places where bacteria can be found. Three of the most common bacteria, which can easily be spread through the workplace, are:

Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci causes skin and urinary tract infections. This bacteria is spread easily from person to person via objects such as the telephone or keyboards.

Diptheroids are found on up to 80% of keyboards and workspaces and are the most common bacteria found in acne and spots.

Psuedomonas Aeruginosa will thrive anywhere in the workplace. This bacteria weakens the immune system causing urinary tract infections, cold and flu symptoms and in some cases pneumonia.

Wellbeing in the workplace falls under the government’s cross departmental ‘Health, Work and Wellbeing Programme’ that encourages all employers to prevent their employees from becoming injured or ill in the work place. The programme aims also encourages ‘to go further and use the workplace as an opportunity for general health improvement.’

Integrating an anti-microbial solution is not only cost effective but importantly provides staff and visitors assurance of a clean, safe and bacteria free space, contributing towards wellbeing in the workplace.

Micro-Fresh at Marks & Spencer

We displayed our Micro-Fresh product at the Marks & Spencer innovation hub for 8 weeks, and it proved to be a great success. We displayed products that had been treated with Micro-Fresh, everything from T-Shirts, Kitchen wear, Shoes, Fluffy toys and Food containers, products that not only had been treated with Micro-Fresh but had also been treated with Micro-Fresh that contained our security tracer.

All the products treated will have the added protection to restrict bacteria forming that will not only ensure the product stays bacterial free*, but will restrict the bacterial growth that causes unpleasant smells you would associate with shoes and sportswear, especially ideal for anyone who has an active lifestyle.

This is just some of the many benefits you get when you add Micro-Fresh to your products.

*destroys up to 99.9% of bacteria.
